我幻想中的杜拜總公司辦公室是位於高級商業地段，設於大廈的高層，佔地兩三層，有大堂保安看守，出入需拍咭或登記。事實是辦公室的確位於杜拜媒體城的商業區，但地點三不到，沒有地鐵站、巴士十分罕見、電車站要走很遠路，在杜拜乾旱烈日下走路不是該做的事，所以沒有自駕便需要以的士代步。另外辦公室不是位於頂層，只是佔中層的三個單位，全座大廈樓高13層，大堂沒有保安，自出自入。沒有想像中高級，但大廈環境不錯，十分有阿拉伯感，而且景色很開揚。
I have a dream that the head office in Dubai is located in the upper-end commercial district, occupied the top level of building with two to three floors. The security guards are 24 hours on duty and users are required to have their own identity card for entry or visitor registration is needed. That was just a dream. The truth is the office is located in the Media City in Dubai which is like an industrial estate and the public transport is not well developed. The metro station is very far and I rarely see the bus stopped at the bus stop downstair. However, there is a tram stop which you can reach with 15 minutes walk under the sun. To walk under the sun in Dubai which is a dry and shinny country is not recommened. As a result, people tent to drive in Dubai or take taxi. Speaking of the real office, it is not located on the top level nor with several floors. Instead it occupied only three small units of the floor which the building is 13-floor high. No security guard and everybody is allowed to enter the building. It was not high-end at all. However, the environment of the building is nice which is rich in Arabric style and the view is pleasant.
整天都是進行內部培訓，與大家重溫日常工作細節，雖然來自同一個部門，但不同國家的處理手法都有所不同。以往在工作上我感到很機械化，覺得被已存在的規則框死，我們的一舉一動都被總公司限制著，不得走出他們被允許的範圍。這次會議之後，令我更感到強烈無奈，我在工作上沒有太大問題，香港的同事的配合令一切變得簡單容易，我們都明白自己的職責，所以不會為他人帶來麻煩。但原來其他國家是另一回事，營業部的同事未有交齊文件，又沒有相關人士監管，令後勤同事要多做一從功夫才可按常規辦事。後勤同事反映問題但未被重視，問題未有解決，到有人問責時，茅頭居然直指後勤同事錯漏，令到影響其他部門運作，要額外資源解決問題。他們的腦袋是沒有帶上班或是整天被坐著? 誰惹的禍? 請攪清楚!!! 現在我只視這是一份工作，準時上班下班，不再在意與我無關的事情，比以前更機械化，就是按章工作。
It was a full-day training covering the daily routine and go through the details of our job. Although we are from the same department, we actually based in different countries with our own way to handle the task. In the past, I felt the job is so monochrome and I have the constraint of the rules and guidelines. Every single move of us are watched by the headquarter and we are prohibited to stay far from the boundary. After this conference, I further feel the sense of helpless. I can day I do not have big issue at work and all my teammates in Hong Kong are well coorperated. It helps me a lot. Everyone of us know about our responsibility and we did our best to avoid bring others into trouble. However, it was not the case in other markets. The sales did not submit all the required papers and noone monitor their work which the consequence is the back-office colleauge suffer from their mess. Back-office colleauges have to clean up part of the mess before moving on. Issues are reflected, however, it was not taken seriously and problem is not solved. When someone asked who is responsible for the issue, it became the fault of the back-end colleagues. Their behaviour affected the operation of the other departments and extra resources are spent to fix the issue.
另一個沉悶的下午，大家懷著睡意在聽課，也許經理意識到大家下一秒將會倒下，便與我們進行一個集體活動，讓大腦和身體放輕鬆。首先大家圍圈，然後向中心點前進，舉起雙手，隨意捉著前方的手。當大家都已被牽著便退後，會發現牽著的手出現多個被纏繞著的結，自己雙手在別人面前打結。這個活動的最終目的是要合力解開所有結，過程有著許多歡笑和吵鬧，花了半小時才順利解決。再有機會我也希望再試一次。
It was another boring afternoon which everyone wants to fell a sleep very soon. The manager realized "this alert" and someone may be down in the next second. She suggested us to do a group activity to stretch our bodies and relax our brain. Everyone stood in a circle and walked toward the centre. We have our hands up and grabbed a hand randomly. When everyone got a pair of hands, we moved backward which we realized the hands were in knots. Knots were in front of you or behind your back. What we have to do was to unlock ourself. I have to agree that it is a really good exercise which everyone was so happy and lots of job. We spent half an hour to be totally unlock and hope to do it again.
晚上公司安排了一個飯局，到Sofitel的Wakame 日本餐廳用膳，除了沒有蝦的蝦餃外，其他菜式都很精緻味美。當中有一道菜是魚生，可能不夠衛生，同事吃了當晚上吐下瀉，真是可憐。
A dinner in Wakame, Sofitel was arranged by the company. It is a Japanese restaurant providing Asian food. We had a shrimp dumpling, canton dim sum, without shrimp inside which taste awful. The sashimi may not be a good choice because one of the colleauges threw up in the hotel and felt bad after eating that. However, other dishes are quite impressing.
